How to choose a waitlist tool

Start with one question: do you want a hosted page or a form embedded in your own site? Then compare templates, referrals, a launch countdown, pricing and subscriber limits. Below, LaunchList, Waitlister, GetWaitlistand Qubed are compared on facts taken from each tool's own website, with a source for every cell.

What matters

Six things to compare before you pick

  • Hosted page or embedded form

Do you want a finished page with its own link, or a form inside a site you already have? This one choice rules out half the tools.

  • Templates and design

If you don't have a site yet, the look of the page is your first impression. Check how many designs you get and whether they cost extra.

  • Referrals

Can subscribers move up by inviting friends, and is that on the free plan or a paid tier? Referrals are what make a waitlist grow on its own.

  • Launch countdown

A visible launch date turns a signup form into an event. Few tools build one in.

  • Pricing model

Free tier or trial, monthly or one-time, and what triggers the next tier: subscribers, pages or features.

  • Subscriber limits

Look at the cap on the plan you'll actually use, and what happens to signups when you reach it.

Honest fit

When Qubed is the right choice, and when it isn't

Qubed is a good fit when

  • You want a finished, hosted page today, without a website or code.
  • Design matters: 1,000 animated templates, all free on every plan.
  • You want share-to-climb referrals and a launch countdown included, even on Free.
  • You want a low, simple price: $9.95/mo for unlimited pages and 10,000 subscribers each.

Qubed isn't there yet when

  • You need an embeddable form inside your own site, or a REST API and webhooks: not yet available on Qubed.
  • You want to email your list from the waitlist tool. Broadcasts are coming soon; today you export a CSV.
  • You need your own custom domain on the page right now. It's on the roadmap, not yet live.
  • You need to import an existing list, collect extra form fields or verify emails with double opt-in.

FAQ

Choosing a waitlist tool: FAQ

What is the best waitlist tool?

The one that matches how you'll collect signups. For a designed, hosted page with referrals and a countdown, Qubed is built for that. For a form inside an existing site or an API-driven flow, an embed-first tool fits better. The table above shows the differences we could verify.

Is there a free waitlist tool with referrals?

Qubed includes referrals on its free plan (1 page, 100 subscribers). Of the tools compared here, LaunchList lists referral management on its free plan, Waitlister starts referrals on its $19/mo Launch plan, and GetWaitlist starts with a 7-day trial.

Do I need a website to run a waitlist?

Not with a hosted tool. Qubed and some others host the page for you. Embed-first tools assume you already have a site to put the form on.

How did you check these facts?

We read each tool's own homepage and pricing page in September 2026 and linked every fact to its source. "Not stated" means those pages didn't mention it. We re-check quarterly.

Why isn't my favorite tool listed?

We only publish a comparison when we can verify at least ten features and the pricing from the tool's own site. If a site blocked our check or didn't list enough, we left it out rather than guess.
