About the LiveJournal template
LiveJournal warps a mood ring into amethyst accents across pale white—a palette frozen in blogging's second golden age, friends-locked entries, and cryptic mood metadata. Blogging communities, writing platforms, diary apps, and online memoir projects use this to invoke the intimacy of early web confessionalism. What the demo shows
The live demo on this page launches Moodlock, a made-up product we wrote to show the template with realistic copy: the headline reads “Lock the feelings. Share the key.” and the subhead says “Moodlock is a private journaling community where every entry gets a mood, a song, and a friends-only switch.” Below it you see the signup form, a demo launch countdown and the share-to-climb referral panel exactly as a visitor would. Try the form: in the demo nothing is stored. When you use LiveJournal, you replace Moodlock with your own product name, headline, subhead and logo; the palette and motion come with it and every colour stays editable.
Design details
LiveJournal is a light template: a white background (#fafafa), near-black type (#0c0a09) and a violet accent (#a855f7) on the join button, the countdown and the referral highlights. Body text sits at a 18.9:1 contrast ratio against the background, comfortably past the WCAG AAA threshold. Behind the copy the page animates with floating hearts, clearly visible; visitors who ask their device for reduced motion get a still frame instead. Structurally it uses the Manifesto layout, shared with 93 other templates, but the palette, the motion and the demo copy are LiveJournal's own.

How it compares
Within Y2K, LiveJournal stands out for its violet accent on a white ground. If it is not quite right, GeoCities Neon flips to a dark near-black canvas with a vivid cyan accent and a slow-twinkling starfield (“Under construction GIF”). Angelfire flips to a dark charcoal canvas with a vivid amber accent and fireworks bursting (“Marquee text, midi loop”). Comic Sans is also light but leans on a red accent and halftone dot patterns (“Printer paper, friendly type”). All of them share the same signup, referral and analytics features, so switching later only changes the look.
