About the GeoCities Neon template
GeoCities Neon resurrects the fever dream of the early web: pure black, flashing cyan and yellow like blink tags and GIFs, unapologetic anachronism. What the demo shows
The live demo on this page launches Neighborweb, a made-up product we wrote to show the template with realistic copy: the headline reads “Hand-coded homepages, back under construction” and the subhead says “Neighborweb gives you free space for a handmade HTML site, plus webrings, guestbooks, and a very necessary hit counter.” Below it you see the signup form, a demo launch countdown and the share-to-climb referral panel exactly as a visitor would. Try the form: in the demo nothing is stored. When you use GeoCities Neon, you replace Neighborweb with your own product name, headline, subhead and logo; the palette and motion come with it and every colour stays editable.
Design details
GeoCities Neon is a dark template: a near-black background (#0a0a0a), vivid amber type (#facc15) and a vivid cyan accent (#22d3ee) on the join button, the countdown and the referral highlights. Body text sits at a 12.9:1 contrast ratio against the background, comfortably past the WCAG AAA threshold. Behind the copy the page animates with a slow-twinkling starfield, front and centre; visitors who ask their device for reduced motion get a still frame instead. Structurally it uses the Cyber-Glitch layout, shared with 84 other templates, but the palette, the motion and the demo copy are GeoCities Neon's own.

How it compares
Within Y2K, GeoCities Neon stands out for its vivid cyan accent on a near-black ground. If it is not quite right, Angelfire is also dark but leans on a vivid amber accent and fireworks bursting (“Marquee text, midi loop”). Comic Sans flips to a light white canvas with a red accent and halftone dot patterns (“Printer paper, friendly type”). WordArt Chrome flips to a light pale sky blue canvas with a light violet accent and liquid chrome flowing across the page (“Bevel chrome, gradient”). All of them share the same signup, referral and analytics features, so switching later only changes the look.
