What the demo shows
The live demo on this page launches Mothlantern, a made-up product we wrote to show the template with realistic copy: the headline reads “A bug kingdom, lost in the dark” and the subhead says “A hand-drawn metroidvania set in a forgotten insect kingdom, where your lantern is fading and you draw the map yourself.” Below it you see the signup form, a demo launch countdown and the share-to-climb referral panel exactly as a visitor would. Try the form: in the demo nothing is stored. When you use Hollow Knight, you replace Mothlantern with your own product name, headline, subhead and logo; the palette and motion come with it and every colour stays editable.
Design details
Hollow Knight is a dark template: a deep indigo background (#0c0a1a), pale blue type (#e0e7ff) and a light violet accent (#a78bfa) on the join button, the countdown and the referral highlights. Body text sits at a 15.9:1 contrast ratio against the background, comfortably past the WCAG AAA threshold. Behind the copy the page animates with drifting magical motes, front and centre; visitors who ask their device for reduced motion get a still frame instead. Structurally it uses the Spotlight layout, shared with 111 other templates, but the palette, the motion and the demo copy are Hollow Knight's own.

How it compares
Within Retro / Gaming, Hollow Knight stands out for its light violet accent on a deep indigo ground. If it is not quite right, Synthwave Sunset is also dark but leans on a vivid pink accent and the odd shooting star (“Neon grid into the horizon”). Stardew Valley flips to a light cream canvas with an emerald accent and leaves tumbling through the frame (“Farm green, harvest gold”). Terraria Pixel is also dark but leans on a vivid amber accent and an animated pixel loot layer (“Block dirt, sun gold”). All of them share the same signup, referral and analytics features, so switching later only changes the look.
