About the Oort Cloud template
Named for the spherical shell of icy bodies orbiting our sun, Oort Cloud wraps your page in the void: deep blue-black with steel accents. Science communicators, astronomy apps, and ambient tech companies choose this palette because it suggests vastness without melodrama. The restrained accent color echoes starlight rather than screaming, creating a contemplative space that resonates with thoughtful audiences who convert through reflection rather than stimulation.
What the demo shows
The live demo on this page launches Faroff, a made-up product we wrote to show the template with realistic copy: the headline reads “Letters from the edge of everything” and the subhead says “Faroff is a slow newsletter arriving once a season, with one long essay about distance, silence, and the outer solar system.” Below it you see the signup form, a demo launch countdown and the share-to-climb referral panel exactly as a visitor would. Try the form: in the demo nothing is stored. When you use Oort Cloud, you replace Faroff with your own product name, headline, subhead and logo; the palette and motion come with it and every colour stays editable.
Design details
Oort Cloud is a dark template: a near-black blue background (#020617), pale sky blue type (#cbd5e1) and a muted blue accent (#94a3b8) on the join button, the countdown and the referral highlights. Body text sits at a 13.6:1 contrast ratio against the background, comfortably past the WCAG AAA threshold. Behind the copy the page animates with gently falling snow, front and centre; visitors who ask their device for reduced motion get a still frame instead. Structurally it uses the Star Wars Galaxy layout, shared with 23 other templates, but the palette, the motion and the demo copy are Oort Cloud's own.

How it compares
Within Sci-Fi, Oort Cloud stands out for its muted blue accent on a near-black blue ground. If it is not quite right, Matrix is also dark but leans on an emerald accent and green code raining down the screen (“Falling code rain. Pure cyberpunk”). Star Wars Galaxy is also dark but leans on a vivid amber accent and an opening crawl through a starfield (“Parallax starfield, far far away”). Exoplanet is also dark but leans on a violet accent and slowly orbiting planets (“Alien world, violet sky”). All of them share the same signup, referral and analytics features, so switching later only changes the look.
