About the Microsoft Bob template
Microsoft Bob's house, friendly agents, skeuomorphic pre-mobile interface: Y2K naïveté made adorable and earnest. Bob-coded nostalgia appeals to projects celebrating early web kindness and interface history. Your brand feels endearingly sincere. Watch which whimsical design details convert your retro-loving, design-history-obsessed audience via real-time analytics measurement.
What the demo shows
The live demo on this page launches Hearthside, a made-up product we wrote to show the template with realistic copy: the headline reads “A computer that feels like home” and the subhead says “Hearthside turns a tablet into a friendly little house where each room opens mail, photos, or video calls.” Below it you see the signup form, a demo launch countdown and the share-to-climb referral panel exactly as a visitor would. Try the form: in the demo nothing is stored. When you use Microsoft Bob, you replace Hearthside with your own product name, headline, subhead and logo; the palette and motion come with it and every colour stays editable.
Design details
Microsoft Bob is a light template: a cream background (#fef3c7), brown type (#7c2d12) and a deep blue accent (#0c1233) on the join button, the countdown and the referral highlights. Body text sits at a 8.4:1 contrast ratio against the background, comfortably past the WCAG AAA threshold. Behind the copy the page animates with Memphis-style squiggles and shapes, clearly visible; visitors who ask their device for reduced motion get a still frame instead. Structurally it uses the Bold layout, shared with 59 other templates, but the palette, the motion and the demo copy are Microsoft Bob's own.

How it compares
Within Y2K, Microsoft Bob stands out for its deep blue accent on a cream ground. If it is not quite right, MS Paint is also light but leans on a red accent and watercolour washes bleeding together (“Pixel splash, brush tool”). 3D Pipes flips to a dark near-black canvas with a vivid cyan accent and circuit traces lighting up (“Drifting pipes, dim CRT”). Flying Toaster flips to a dark deep blue canvas with a vivid amber accent and clouds drifting past (“Bread morning sky”). All of them share the same signup, referral and analytics features, so switching later only changes the look.
