About the Astro Purple template

What the demo shows
The live demo on this page launches Archipela, a made-up product we wrote to show the template with realistic copy: the headline reads “Static sites with islands of magic.” and the subhead says “Archipela is an open-source site theme that ships pure HTML and hydrates only the interactive bits you choose.” Below it you see the signup form, a demo launch countdown and the share-to-climb referral panel exactly as a visitor would. Try the form: in the demo nothing is stored. When you use Astro Purple, you replace Archipela with your own product name, headline, subhead and logo; the palette and motion come with it and every colour stays editable.
Design details
Astro Purple is a dark template: a dark indigo background (#1e1b4b), pale violet type (#e9d5ff) and a violet accent (#a855f7) on the join button, the countdown and the referral highlights. Body text sits at a 11.7:1 contrast ratio against the background, comfortably past the WCAG AAA threshold. Behind the copy the page animates with slowly orbiting planets, front and centre; visitors who ask their device for reduced motion get a still frame instead. Structurally it uses the Gradient layout, shared with 10 other templates, but the palette, the motion and the demo copy are Astro Purple's own.

How it compares
Within Tech, Astro Purple stands out for its violet accent on a dark indigo ground. If it is not quite right, Solid Blue is also dark but leans on a vivid blue accent and concentric orbits (“Reactive primitives, deep blue”). htmx Red flips to a light white canvas with a red accent and hard-edged brutalist blocks (“Hypertext red, no js”). Rust Orange is also dark but leans on a vivid orange accent and turning gears (“Cargo orange, fearless concurrency”). All of them share the same signup, referral and analytics features, so switching later only changes the look.
