About the Heroku Purple template

Heroku Purple channels the platform's iconic dashboard with a deep indigo background and bright magenta accent that hits like a terminal color palette. This template resonates with DevOps teams, infrastructure engineers, and anyone nostalgic for Heroku's heyday. If you're building a developer tool or API service, the bold, high-contrast design cuts through clutter—and with Qubed's custom domain support on the Pro tier, you can stake your brand claim on your own URL.

What the demo shows

The live demo on this page launches Pushcart, a made-up product we wrote to show the template with realistic copy: the headline reads “Remember when deploying was one command?” and the subhead says “Pushcart brings back the simple days of hosting: push your repo, get a URL, add a database with one line.” Below it you see the signup form, a demo launch countdown and the share-to-climb referral panel exactly as a visitor would. Try the form: in the demo nothing is stored. When you use Heroku Purple, you replace Pushcart with your own product name, headline, subhead and logo; the palette and motion come with it and every colour stays editable.

Design details

Heroku Purple is a dark template: a dark indigo background (#1e1b4b), pale violet type (#e9d5ff) and a violet accent (#a855f7) on the join button, the countdown and the referral highlights. Body text sits at a 11.7:1 contrast ratio against the background, comfortably past the WCAG AAA threshold. Behind the copy the page animates with drifting magical motes, front and centre; visitors who ask their device for reduced motion get a still frame instead. Structurally it uses the Minimal layout, shared with 137 other templates, but the palette, the motion and the demo copy are Heroku Purple's own.

How it compares

Within Tech, Heroku Purple stands out for its violet accent on a dark indigo ground. If it is not quite right, GitHub Dark is also dark but leans on an emerald accent and an animated commits layer (“Pull-request green on graphite”). GitLab Orange is also dark but leans on a vivid vermilion accent and an animated conveyor layer (“CI orange, pipe blue”). Datadog Purple is also dark but leans on a violet accent and an animated charts layer (“Observability violet”). All of them share the same signup, referral and analytics features, so switching later only changes the look.

Launch with Heroku Purple in three steps

  1. Click “Use this template” and create a free account; Heroku Purple is preselected in the page wizard.
  2. Replace the Pushcart demo copy with your product's headline and one-line pitch, pick a URL, and optionally set a launch date to show a real countdown.
  3. Publish and share the link. Every subscriber gets a personal referral link, and you watch signups and top referrers arrive in the dashboard.
