About the One Dark template
One Dark channels the iconic Atom editor syntax—moss-green text on charcoal, a palette beloved by developers since the dawn of the open-source IDE era. This terminal-native design suits developer tools, CLI platforms, and code collaboration startups seeking authenticity over novelty. The referral leaderboard gamifies signups like a GitHub contributor graph.
What the demo shows
The live demo on this page launches Driftwatch, a made-up product we wrote to show the template with realistic copy: the headline reads “Dependencies updated while you sleep” and the subhead says “Driftwatch opens small, tested upgrade pull requests every night, grouped by risk, so your stack never drifts years behind.” Below it you see the signup form, a demo launch countdown and the share-to-climb referral panel exactly as a visitor would. Try the form: in the demo nothing is stored. When you use One Dark, you replace Driftwatch with your own product name, headline, subhead and logo; the palette and motion come with it and every colour stays editable.
Design details
One Dark is a dark template: a dark blue background (#282c34), light blue type (#abb2bf) and a green accent (#98c379) on the join button, the countdown and the referral highlights. Body text sits at a 6.6:1 contrast ratio against the background, which clears WCAG AA for body copy. Behind the copy the page animates with concentric orbits, front and centre; visitors who ask their device for reduced motion get a still frame instead. Structurally it uses the Cyber-Glitch layout, shared with 84 other templates, but the palette, the motion and the demo copy are One Dark's own.

How it compares
Within Terminal, One Dark stands out for its green accent on a dark blue ground. If it is not quite right, Tomorrow Night is also dark but leans on a muted purple accent and a moonlit sky (“Soft dark, low contrast”). Hotdog Stand is also dark but leans on a vivid yellow accent and drifting pixel blocks (“Win 3.1 cursed, eye-burn”). Phosphor Pink is also dark but leans on a vivid pink accent and CRT scanlines (“Hot pink CRT, scanlines”). All of them share the same signup, referral and analytics features, so switching later only changes the look.
