The monochromatic restraint and green-on-grey contrast feel native rather than like leaving your ecosystem, making the signup action feel like a native command rather than a foreign detour.
What the demo shows
The live demo on this page launches Modal Dojo, a made-up product we wrote to show the template with realistic copy: the headline reads “Learn to stop reaching for the mouse” and the subhead says “Modal Dojo is a hands-on course of daily five-minute editing katas that build real muscle memory, one motion at a time.” Below it you see the signup form, a demo launch countdown and the share-to-climb referral panel exactly as a visitor would. Try the form: in the demo nothing is stored. When you use vim --dark, you replace Modal Dojo with your own product name, headline, subhead and logo; the palette and motion come with it and every colour stays editable.
Design details
vim --dark is a dark template: a charcoal background (#1d2021), light amber type (#ebdbb2) and a muted emerald accent (#83a598) on the join button, the countdown and the referral highlights. Body text sits at a 12:1 contrast ratio against the background, comfortably past the WCAG AAA threshold. Behind the copy the page animates with scrolling terminal output, front and centre; visitors who ask their device for reduced motion get a still frame instead. Structurally it uses the Cyber-Glitch layout, shared with 84 other templates, but the palette, the motion and the demo copy are vim --dark's own.

How it compares
Within Terminal, vim --dark stands out for its muted emerald accent on a charcoal ground. If it is not quite right, Code Review is also dark but leans on a vivid vermilion accent and an animated code editor layer (“Diff red/green, mono crisp”). Makefile is also dark but leans on a vivid green accent and scrolling terminal output (“Bash prompt, build green”). Syslog is also dark but leans on a vivid blue accent and streams of data flowing past (“Pale grey logs, timestamp blue”). All of them share the same signup, referral and analytics features, so switching later only changes the look.
