What the demo shows
The live demo on this page launches Awayline, a made-up product we wrote to show the template with realistic copy: the headline reads “Away messages are back. Be cryptic.” and the subhead says “Awayline lets you post one moody status line at a time, complete with a door-creak sound when friends sign off.” Below it you see the signup form, a demo launch countdown and the share-to-climb referral panel exactly as a visitor would. Try the form: in the demo nothing is stored. When you use AIM Buddy, you replace Awayline with your own product name, headline, subhead and logo; the palette and motion come with it and every colour stays editable.
Design details
AIM Buddy is a light template: a pale sky blue background (#dbeafe), deep blue type (#0c1233) and a vivid amber accent (#facc15) on the join button, the countdown and the referral highlights. Body text sits at a 15:1 contrast ratio against the background, comfortably past the WCAG AAA threshold. Behind the copy the page animates with clouds drifting past, clearly visible; visitors who ask their device for reduced motion get a still frame instead. Structurally it uses the Minimal layout, shared with 137 other templates, but the palette, the motion and the demo copy are AIM Buddy's own.

How it compares
Within Y2K, AIM Buddy stands out for its vivid amber accent on a pale sky blue ground. If it is not quite right, Nokia 3310 is also light but leans on a near-black accent and stacking geometric blocks (“Snake green, brick LCD”). Blackberry Pearl flips to a dark charcoal canvas with a mid grey accent and floating chrome orbs (“Trackball click, deep grey”). Flip Phone is also light but leans on a light violet accent and floating chrome orbs (“Razr silver, T9 keys”). All of them share the same signup, referral and analytics features, so switching later only changes the look.
