About the MSN Messenger template
MSN Messenger resurrects early-2000s nostalgia: soft blue background with bright blue accents and dark navy text evoking Windows XP conversations. Millennial creators, nostalgic gaming communities, and Y2K brands gravitate here because the palette time-travels to AOL's golden age. Blue is that specific Messenger blue feeling like looking at CRT memory, and referral leaderboard gamifies recruitment with competitive buddy-list status urgency.
What the demo shows
The live demo on this page launches Nudgebox, a made-up product we wrote to show the template with realistic copy: the headline reads “Bring back the nudge” and the subhead says “Nudgebox is a tiny chat app for close friends, with buddy lists, custom status lines, and a nudge that actually shakes.” Below it you see the signup form, a demo launch countdown and the share-to-climb referral panel exactly as a visitor would. Try the form: in the demo nothing is stored. When you use MSN Messenger, you replace Nudgebox with your own product name, headline, subhead and logo; the palette and motion come with it and every colour stays editable.
Design details
MSN Messenger is a light template: a pale sky blue background (#dbeafe), deep blue type (#0c1233) and a vivid blue accent (#3b82f6) on the join button, the countdown and the referral highlights. Body text sits at a 15:1 contrast ratio against the background, comfortably past the WCAG AAA threshold. Behind the copy the page animates with floating UI panels, clearly visible; visitors who ask their device for reduced motion get a still frame instead. Structurally it uses the Minimal layout, shared with 137 other templates, but the palette, the motion and the demo copy are MSN Messenger's own.

How it compares
Within Y2K, MSN Messenger stands out for its vivid blue accent on a pale sky blue ground. If it is not quite right, AIM Buddy is also light but leans on a vivid amber accent and clouds drifting past (“Running man, away message”). Nokia 3310 is also light but leans on a near-black accent and stacking geometric blocks (“Snake green, brick LCD”). Blackberry Pearl flips to a dark charcoal canvas with a mid grey accent and floating chrome orbs (“Trackball click, deep grey”). All of them share the same signup, referral and analytics features, so switching later only changes the look.
Launch with MSN Messenger in three steps
- Click “Use this template” and create a free account; MSN Messenger is preselected in the page wizard.
- Replace the Nudgebox demo copy with your product's headline and one-line pitch, pick a URL, and optionally set a launch date to show a real countdown.
- Publish and share the link. Every subscriber gets a personal referral link, and you watch signups and top referrers arrive in the dashboard.
