About the Windows XP template
Windows XP resurrects early-2000s tech optimism—light blue backgrounds, Bliss-hill green accents, taskbar-era typography. What the demo shows
The live demo on this page launches Greenhill, a made-up product we wrote to show the template with realistic copy: the headline reads “Your portfolio, booted up desktop-style” and the subhead says “Greenhill turns your work into a nostalgic desktop with draggable windows, a start menu, and a grassy hill wallpaper.” Below it you see the signup form, a demo launch countdown and the share-to-climb referral panel exactly as a visitor would. Try the form: in the demo nothing is stored. When you use Windows XP, you replace Greenhill with your own product name, headline, subhead and logo; the palette and motion come with it and every colour stays editable.
Design details
Windows XP is a light template: a pale sky blue background (#bfdbfe), deep blue type (#0c1233) and an emerald accent (#16a34a) on the join button, the countdown and the referral highlights. Body text sits at a 12.9:1 contrast ratio against the background, comfortably past the WCAG AAA threshold. Behind the copy the page animates with grass swaying in the wind, clearly visible; visitors who ask their device for reduced motion get a still frame instead. Structurally it uses the Minimal layout, shared with 137 other templates, but the palette, the motion and the demo copy are Windows XP's own.

How it compares
Within Y2K, Windows XP stands out for its emerald accent on a pale sky blue ground. If it is not quite right, MSN Messenger is also light but leans on a vivid blue accent and floating UI panels (“Buddy list, nudge yellow”). AIM Buddy is also light but leans on a vivid amber accent and clouds drifting past (“Running man, away message”). Nokia 3310 is also light but leans on a near-black accent and stacking geometric blocks (“Snake green, brick LCD”). All of them share the same signup, referral and analytics features, so switching later only changes the look.
