About the Dot Matrix template
Dot Matrix evokes the pixelated aesthetic of a 1990s needle-printer output—white background, dark text, the impression of dots composing every character. The minimalist monochrome palette appeals to archivists, data-centric projects, and founders claiming computational transparency. Every pixel carries weight; nothing is anti-aliased or smoothed. This template suits printable media, academic papers converted to digital, and projects that want to feel raw rather than refined. The starkness reads as honesty; the low-fi aesthetic signals trust in substance over appearance. Monitor engagement with a referral leaderboard that looks equally native to printed output—communal, accessible, transparent.
What the demo shows
The live demo on this page launches Printhead, a made-up product we wrote to show the template with realistic copy: the headline reads “Receipts for your to-do list.” and the subhead says “A tiny thermal printer that prints your daily tasks as a receipt. Tear it off, cross it out, feel great.” Below it you see the signup form, a demo launch countdown and the share-to-climb referral panel exactly as a visitor would. Try the form: in the demo nothing is stored. When you use Dot Matrix, you replace Printhead with your own product name, headline, subhead and logo; the palette and motion come with it and every colour stays editable.
Design details
Dot Matrix is a light template: a white background (#fafafa), near-black type (#0c0a09) and a near-black accent (#0c0a09) on the join button, the countdown and the referral highlights. Body text sits at a 18.9:1 contrast ratio against the background, comfortably past the WCAG AAA threshold. Behind the copy the page animates with a pulsing dot grid, clearly visible; visitors who ask their device for reduced motion get a still frame instead. Structurally it uses the Cyber-Glitch layout, shared with 84 other templates, but the palette, the motion and the demo copy are Dot Matrix's own.

How it compares
Within Monochrome, Dot Matrix stands out for its near-black accent on a white ground. If it is not quite right, Barcode Lines is also light but leans on a near-black accent and an animated barcode layer (“Industrial stripe pattern”). Fingerprint is also light but leans on a near-black accent and an animated fingerprint layer (“Inked thumb, paper”). Inkwell is also light but leans on a near-black accent and ink blooming through water (“Classic well, steel nib”). All of them share the same signup, referral and analytics features, so switching later only changes the look.
