About the Empire Grey template

What the demo shows
The live demo on this page launches Greyhull, a made-up product we wrote to show the template with realistic copy: the headline reads “Command the fleet. Crush the rebellion.” and the subhead says “Greyhull is a tabletop miniatures game of capital-ship battles, with 3D-printable fleets and fast, tactical rules.” Below it you see the signup form, a demo launch countdown and the share-to-climb referral panel exactly as a visitor would. Try the form: in the demo nothing is stored. When you use Empire Grey, you replace Greyhull with your own product name, headline, subhead and logo; the palette and motion come with it and every colour stays editable.
Design details
Empire Grey is a dark template: a dark grey background (#404040), white type (#fafafa) and a red accent (#dc2626) on the join button, the countdown and the referral highlights. Body text sits at a 9.9:1 contrast ratio against the background, comfortably past the WCAG AAA threshold. Behind the copy the page animates with a slow-twinkling starfield, front and centre; visitors who ask their device for reduced motion get a still frame instead. Structurally it uses the Star Wars Galaxy layout, shared with 23 other templates, but the palette, the motion and the demo copy are Empire Grey's own.

How it compares
Within Sci-Fi, Empire Grey stands out for its red accent on a dark grey ground. If it is not quite right, Matrix is also dark but leans on an emerald accent and green code raining down the screen (“Falling code rain. Pure cyberpunk”). Star Wars Galaxy is also dark but leans on a vivid amber accent and an opening crawl through a starfield (“Parallax starfield, far far away”). Cyber-Noir is also dark but leans on a vivid emerald accent (“Monochrome dark. Neon scanlines. Glitch artifacts”). All of them share the same signup, referral and analytics features, so switching later only changes the look.
